Rana boylei Redwood Creek, Napa, Napa Co. Calif. Elev ~200' Stopped at ~ 1:30-2 P.M. at turnout on Redwood Road to see what the stream was like. The habitat looked suitable for yellow-legged. Upon 1st approaching the stream bed I secured one small individual into the water. I walked downstream ~ 50 - 100 yds but saw no other animals. Upon returning to the point of origin the 1st individual seen was captured. It is a young individual, ~ 8-10mm snout-vent length. Chu Mei has decided to keep him for a pet. Searching for animals proved difficult. There has been a lot of rain recently and most of the creeks and streams are muddy. It is quite probable there are frogs in all of these streams but if they are on the bottom it is impossible to see them.
