Fresno Co trip
Aug (cont)
in Indian Basin area. Indian Cl mostly dry or very overgrown. Mid across from campd to few ponds still there.. One pond with many juvenile Hyla regilla in grass and it. No tads seen in pond itself. Other pond had 3 ducks.
1 Aug.
Headed back to go to Huntington Lake.
Stopped at Sequoia Lake where baylei (muscosa ?) once collected. is owned by YMCA.
is a large bullfrog population there now.
Startled at least 50 within the 50 yards of shore I walked. Also stopped at Dunlap - all streams in area are dry.
Went back to Fresno to pick up 188 E.
Also stopped for ice, lunch & gas. Arrived at Huntington Lake ~3:30 pm (PDT). This also is major forest service recreation area. The lake itself is a state game refuge - rather ironic considering the amt of boating etc that goes on there.
8 Aug.
Hiked 6 mi. up to Nellie Lake which is ~ N of Huntington L. No Rana at all.
Few Hyla regilla tads seen in one small area But nothing else.
