acc, S.M. 1975 Journal 44 D. Calf trip 5 July (cont) Guess what? Thunderstorms all afternoon til ~6 pm. 1 July Drove to Caribou Lake where trails start into wilderness area. Walked in quite away & checked 6-8 ponds/lakes on way. No sign of any frog life at all. From there took h'd b't to Westwood to pick up Rte 36. Stopped at Susan River & walked upstream away but saw nothing. Decided best bet would be to drive to Mineral &see if could get Federal Collecting Permit for cascades at LVNP hdquarters. Was successful & drove in from SW entrance. Stopped at Kings Cle Mdwrs & got 7 animals (sp. acc't). Spent night at Graep Cmpgd. 1 August Went back in am to Dersch Mdwrs where starts at Ranger Station. Got 6 animals there (sp. acct) & then returned to Berkeley. Fresno Co. trip 6 Aug. took rte 13 -> 580 -> 205 -> 120 -> 99 to Fresno & 180 E to home. Has become major camping area (~100 camping units) which is hearily used (it was full that afternoon).
