Joe, S.M. 1975 Journal 41 25 July (cont) N. California trip Elk Ck - found 14 boylei tads in pool of H2O where it was shallow & w/ silt & some algal growth. Also several (few) salamander larvae in same pool. No adult frog seen. After got on etc - went inland along Navarro Rer. Stopped at river in Paul E.M. Dimmick State Pk. Sawp sec. lg tads - cought 1- was bullfrog. Three were in small pool yg separated from rest of stream. 4th was in main pit of river, resting on log in ~ 4 ft of H2O. Ate lunch ~ 2pm at Hendy Woods State Park. Went down to Navarro River which goes thru picnic area. I'd pool w/ at least 100 metamorphosing Hyla regilla. Also were Bufo sp. tads there. As drove inland became fly hotter - was 110° in Ukiah. Took rte 20 to Upper Lake & from there to Middle Ck cmpsd. Unfortunately the ck was dry 26 July Left cmpsd & took rte 175 from Upper Lake to N of Hoborg where Cold Ck crosses the rd. In 1961 rep'd 8 aurora from there. Now are R. catesbeiana ('saw' 6-8 while there) Drove from there back to 20 -> 5 -> Mt Shasto City. 110° in Redding.
