Joe, Susan M. 1973 Journal 25 San Luis Obispo Co. trip, Calif: 1 March (cm) the tent and left. Stopped in Greenfield for a HOT breakfast. Since it was raining again we decided to go down to King City (on Rte 101), take rte G 13 over to Rte 25 & see what the San Benito River had to offer (if anything). Drove South on Rte 25 - to see if anything there - just mudslides & flooded pastures. Turn around & drive N on 25 til ~ 1 mi N of junction of 25 & G13. Rd leads to Coalinga, but has no route # on map. San Benito Rvr. also hi, muddy etc. Approx. 8 mi up this road, as near the river source, river so smaller - may be good habitat - H2O clear but definitely flooded (overflow road in some places). Return to Rte 25, drove N (w/ short detour on Rte 146 into Pinnacles Nat'l Monument). On road off Rte 25, just N of junction w/ Rte 146, is area that also looks like it may be worth coming back to. Stopped in Paicines for lunch & then drove up J 1. Approx 5 mi up is stream that may want to check. Got back on Rte 25 to Hollister -> Rte 156 to San
