Journal San Luis Obispo to trip, Calif. March (cont) Took Rte 46 for aways ('til looked like it might be too bad). Creek run beside road most of way. As expected, it muddy [overflowing from recent rain]. Otherwise may be good. Should check later this year. Decided to return to Atascadero, out to Santa Margarita and up Calf Canyon. Again water is high, muddy. Still raining off & on, even if the sun is out. 12:58 P.M.-hail! Return to Atascadero, nearly afternoon (~2 P.M.), stop for snack & strategy. Since most of Rte 1 is closed, decided to take Rte 101 back to Greenfield. Took G-16 from Greenfield into the Arroyo Seco camp'd in the northern section of the Los Padres N.W.L. Forest. River running thru here (Arroyo Seco river?). H2O not muddy but high. Is getting very cold. Even if H2O slows wouldn't expect to see any frogs. Set up camp & ate some lukewarm soup for supper (problem of damp firewood). March Wake ~6:30 A.M. to the beginning of light rain. Quickly got up, took down
