19 MAR MOROCCO: TANGER; AREA AROUND CITY
Went to area NW of the city and searched for Malpolon, Coluber, etc. which we thought might live in the area.
We were successful at a low area just a little N of the Grotte d'Hercule where we found one NATRIX MAURA (SDB 1863, 3.9g, 187+49) and a small MACROPROTON cucullatus (SDB 1864, 4.0g, 211+33).
9 km SE TANGER, on the main TANGER-TETOUAN HIGHWAY, we collected a D.O.R. COLUBER HIPPOCREPIS (SDB 1865)
Intersection 601 with 8302, 8.4 km SW we collected one DISCOGLOSSUS pictus (SDB 1867, σ♂, 4.0g, 35mm) under a rock and two PSAMMADROMUS ALGIENS (SDB 1867, 2.5g, 49+113C; 1868, 10.75g, 79+119R) in area around cultivated fields. It is cold and windy with some raindrop - not enough to do much good.
INTERSECTION 601 W/ 8302, 1.5 km S on 601 we found one NATRIX MAURA (SDB 1869, 3.4g, 163+44) and one PODARCIS HISPANICA (SDB 1870, σ♂, 3.1g, 50+98C) under rock.
