SPAIN: CADIZ PROVINCE; PUERTO REAL
Arrived yesterday at Malaga
and the REGENTE CAR person had our CITROEN
waiting for us. After paying him for the
insurance, we went to MARBELLA and
stayed at the HOTEL BELARCOS - a nice
hotel that was too expensive ($33.00/Double)
and at which the food was less than
great. We re-enjoyed the car, had
breakfast on the road today and drove
to CADIZ for the liquid Nitrogen and
then to Jerez de la FRIA for the journey.
After getting ourselves equipped, we drove
down the Jerez - Puerto Real road and
located a pond where we searched
for amphibians. Although the pond
was pretty dried up compared with
last year, we did find Pleurodeles
waltli, Pelobates cultripes larvae,
a Natrix maura, and a Bufo bufo
in the vicinity. Under debris on the
NW
west side of the pond (located on
the W. side of the road, 2.5 km E. of
Puerto Real) we also found 11 transformed
Pleurodeles waltli :
SDB 1743 4.7g , 53mm SVL + 42 tail
1744 4.7 , 54 + 52
1745 4.3 , 55 + 47
