FACINAS, 22.7 km SW on CA-221,
40 m. elev., one TARANTOLA MAURITANICA
(1542, 11.75g, 74+62R, TB = 26.5, TA=29) and
one P. hispanica (1549, γˈ, 2.9 g, 50+79R,
TB = TA = 25 C) collected along a stone wall
which acts as the support for a culvert.
In the evening we road drove
CA-221 until about 2am. (sunset was ≈
2130 hrs). To say that luck was with
us would be the understatement of the
year!
0.8 km W. of km. 6 on CA-221
we found the FIRST Vipera LATASTI
even documented from the province of
CADIZ! I, of course, took tissue, and
PHOTOS, and he is now #1551 (γˈ, 20g,
263+42) somewhere in Spain. Further
down the road, 0.6 km NW km. 9 on
CA-221, we found a Bufo bufo (1552,
f, 200g, 119mm), a MACROPROTODON
cucullatus (1553, γˈ, 18.0g, 305+64),
and a Hyla meridionalis (the Hyla was
calling from 2 m. up in a tree; 1554,
γˈ, 5.4g, 43mm). 0.5 km W. km. 15,
200m, we found one Bufo bufo (γˈ, 1555,
17g, 54 mm) and one Discoglossus pictus
(1556, γˈ, 8.8g, 44mm) A.O.R. We returned
to Facinas and, on the return trip, found
2 more Bufo bufo men FACINAS (1557, f, 295g,
