21 MAR 1982 frog) chown.
24 MAR 1982 SPAIN: CDIZ PROV.; FACINAS, on the road
E. to LOS BARRIOS.
Although the day was rather windy,
the sun shone intermittently and because of this I collected along this once off-travelled
route. When I was here in 1969-1972, this
road was barely possible in a VW; now
it is almost a truck route, paved and
all. But the bridge abutments and culvert
still stand and the river remains much
as it was 10 years ago. Mostly grazing
cattle and a few goats, little cultivation.
10.3 km E. of Facinas, we found
1 Psammodromus algirus (SOB 877), 2
Tarentola mauritanica (SOB 884-885), and 1
Podarcis hispanica (SOB 883) at a bridge
abutment which had a small stream passing
under it. Because the Spanish government
(ICONA) forbids me to take any specimens from
Spain, I am adopting an abbreviated format
for my catalogue and will record all data
in these pages.
