1 mi W Coso Jct, Inyo Co, California
22 April Cam weberston & I arrived late night to this vicinity. Done south from Berkeley may 5 -> 46 -> 99 -> Tehachapi -> 14N -> Coss Jct. Left Berkeley round 2 pm, arrived 11 pm or so. Set 60 shermans in creosote send east of Coso Jct 1 1/2 miles and 30 shermans at this locality along the aqueduct.
Then we slept, awoke late (it was a long drive)
and checked the lines. Captures were as follows:
in creosote flats
P. merriami ♀ 2
♂ 2
P. longimembris ♀ 2
♂ 1
Neotoma ad ♂ 1 , juv. 1
P. maniculatus ♀ 1
along aqueduct:
P. formosus ♂ 1
P. longimembris ♂ 1
P. maniculatus ♀ 1 (very pregnant)
One ♀ merriami seemed to have given birth in last week: nipples distended, belly not bulging
The other ♀ I kept — she appears pregnant. One ♀
longimembris died an accident in trap — she
had embryos 3L,2R, swelling ~ 10 mm. The other ♀
is also pregnant. Kept her w/ ♀ merriami. The ♂ merriami
show “receding testes”: scrotal but easy caudal epididymis
