Journal 1 mi W Coso Jct, Inyo Co, California 22 April Cam weberston & I arrived late night to this vicinity. Done south from Berkeley may 5 -> 46 -> 99 -> Tehachapi -> 14N -> Coss Jct. Left Berkeley round 2 pm, arrived 11 pm or so. Set 60 shermans in creosote send east of Coso Jct 1 1/2 miles and 30 shermans at this locality along the aqueduct. Then we slept, awoke late (it was a long drive) and checked the lines. Captures were as follows: in creosote flats P. merriami ♀ 2 ♂ 2 P. longimembris ♀ 2 ♂ 1 Neotoma ad ♂ 1 , juv. 1 P. maniculatus ♀ 1 along aqueduct: P. formosus ♂ 1 P. longimembris ♂ 1 P. maniculatus ♀ 1 (very pregnant) One ♀ merriami seemed to have given birth in last week: nipples distended, belly not bulging The other ♀ I kept — she appears pregnant. One ♀ longimembris died an accident in trap — she had embryos 3L,2R, swelling ~ 10 mm. The other ♀ is also pregnant. Kept her w/ ♀ merriami. The ♂ merriami show “receding testes”: scrotal but easy caudal epididymis
