12noon we arrived here yesterday afternoon after
driving on several dirt roads south of Tres Rios
(South of Interamericana Hwy). Arrived in the driveway of
Oscar Mora and his wife , at the end of the dirt road.
Just below where a tunnel through the mtn is
being dug. The terrain is mostly either straight up
or straight down. Nearly vegetated of Lord knows

the hillsides. Dense thorny small trees, thick forb
groundcover , larger dicots (trees) comprised the
vegetation trapped. I set a line of 50 up the

the thorn trees - up through the coffee plantation.
To the top of the hill, vegetated of a moderate (50%)
overstory of a broadleaf tree of dense understory of
rosaceous lush , forbs etc. Another line of 40 was
set in comparable habitat to the west & south of
Oscar's home - up the road which leads to the
top of the hills (1-1/2 mi away) where Hafner probably
