10mi E, 0.2 mi S. Mono City (Jct 395 x 167), Mono Co., Calif 24 may Captures today were as follows: C. minimus 4 P. moniolatus 4 D. panamintinus 1 P. parvus 1 M. pallidus 5 ♀ 5 ♂ All but one ♂ pallidus were released. A ♀ was released also, clearly having given birth recently. The weather continues to be idyllic (sp?), days in the [illegible] mid 80s, nights in hi 40s - lo 50s. Little wind. No moon. 25 may Captures today were as follows: C. minimus 7 P. moniolatus 5 M. pallidus 6 ♂ 4 ♀ P. parvus 1 ♂ 2 ♀ pallidus showed signs of recent parturition so were released. Captures have not been particularly good and IVB 702 a ♀ pallidus delivered last night and rejected the young. Another ♀ pallidus, # 701 showed a 2 or 3 g wt loss, clearly showing embryo resorption. I've decided to take the 3 ♀ pallidus showing late pregnancy - I leave for Berkeley. If I get them grown enough on a diet of crickets etc away and the warm undisturbed environment of my animal room may save the embryos.
