P. Brylski 1982 Journal 1.6 mi N Chilcot, Plumas Co., California 20 May 2:30pm After leaving Berkeley yesterday round 11:30 am I drove here via Truckee, Loyalton and Vinton arriving roughly 4:30 pm. The truck lost a front tire enroute. 150 Sherman were set in the Sagebrush scrub around the stated locality. The very sandy habitat just north of the entrance to the Ranch (on the west side of the highway) was particularly good for microdipodops megacephalus. Deep sand covered up Artemisia tridentata is to be found on either side of the road but is most extensive to the east of the highway. 80 traps were set here and another 70 were set off the earth road as shown on the map. 45' tall Jeffrey Pine / / / = locations of trap lines. earth road cattle guard Chilcot -- Highway 49 --> Baker Reno <- Loyalton Temperature last night was in the low 40° F.
