Arrived here after driving from Berkeley. Went to Berkeley
on night of 31 March. The winds were so great (30-50 mph)
that I gave up and took the opportunity to get some
more holding cages. I returned here after 2 nights and
one day in Berkeley with 50 mouse cages. I drove
straight for 10 hours from Berkeley here, to pick up
some pregnant meriari. Also brought a ? meriari
(collected by RL Seib) which had a litter of two young
in the cage at Berkeley. Sacrificed the first by vascular
perfusion at MV7 and brought the other and mother
along to get a later stage of development. By 1230 am
I set out 160 shermans in the creosote south here.

1036am pulled in the traps, since I'm planning on
trapping at Kelso Downs tonight. The results were not as
encouraging as I had hoped.

In addition, I catalogued 6 ??, 4 of ? of P. meriari.
The ?? I released either showed signs of having given
birth or were early enough in pregnancy to make it
not worthwhile to keep. The of ? and several juveniles were
sacrificed for repro tracts and skeletal material (reap.)
About 1/2 the released ?? had young underground. This is more
than I expected from my last trip here when so many showed
early pregnancy. I tried digging out a few ?? of this class
