P Brylski 1982 Journal 3.6 mi E, 10.1 mi W. Amboy, San Bernardino Co., Calif 2 April. Arrived here after driving from Berkeley. Went to Berkeley on night of 31 March. The winds were so great (30-50 mph) that I gave up and took the opportunity to get some more holding cages. I returned here after 2 nights and one day in Berkeley with 50 mouse cages. I drove straight for 10 hours from Berkeley here, to pick up some pregnant meriari. Also brought a ? meriari (collected by RL Seib) which had a litter of two young in the cage at Berkeley. Sacrificed the first by vascular perfusion at MV7 and brought the other and mother along to get a later stage of development. By 1230 am I set out 160 shermans in the creosote south here. 3 April 1036am pulled in the traps, since I'm planning on trapping at Kelso Downs tonight. The results were not as encouraging as I had hoped. meriari ? (released) 35 ? ( " ) 15 A. leucans . " 1 In addition, I catalogued 6 ??, 4 of ? of P. meriari. The ?? I released either showed signs of having given birth or were early enough in pregnancy to make it not worthwhile to keep. The of ? and several juveniles were sacrificed for repro tracts and skeletal material (reap.) About 1/2 the released ?? had young underground. This is more than I expected from my last trip here when so many showed early pregnancy. I tried digging out a few ?? of this class
