P. Brylski 1982 Journal 24 March 2.7 mi N Cso Jct and 2.6 mi N Cso Jct, Suyo Co., Calif 6:15 pm Set line of 30 Shermons along the Calif. aqueduct Same lowlay as 10 March 1982. Also have 10 gopher live traps and 12 mooses set in alfalfa field at the Rose Valley Ranch 25 March. 2pm Checked all 3 lines and pulled the traps. The 3 lines were at: (1) Olancha (in the desert, for) D. deserti (2) Calif. aqueduct for P. formosus and (3) at Rose Valley Ranch for T. bottae . The Rose Valley Ranch yielded four dead gophers. None in the live traps. Three were pregnant though one ? adult had given birth within the last few days. The others were all ??, 2 subadult and one juvenile. I didn't keep any, since they were neither alive (for J.L. Patton) nor pregnant (forme). The aqueduct yielded, of 30 traps, 5 ? P. formosus , 1 ? P. formosus (PVB 587), a late pregnant ? merriami, 3 P. maniculatus . The Olancha front resulted in very few deserti captures: a single ? and 2 ?? (1 kept). of 80 traps set, only 14 capture: 10 D. merriami, two ? which were kept, and 4 deserti. Several merriami were ?? having given birth in the last few days. 4pm pack up and head to L.A. 30 March 1.5 mi E, 2.0 mi N Cso Jct, Suyo Co., Calif Arrived on site here at 5:30 pm and promptly set out 120 Shermons in the creosote scrub flats east of the power transmission lines. The weather is bad news. Wind from the south at 30-40 mph. Overcast. Also set 60 traps up at
