7.7 mi S, 3 mi W Kelso, Kelso Dunes, San Bernardino Co., Calif
21 March in the grapy sand dunes, yielded 10 more. 11 total
the other captures. 5 g the 11 captures were dead. Last
night was extremely moist and cold. 4/5 dead were ff
and all g these showed swollen uteri with implantation
sites (dots) but no embryos yet so . The o? was non-scrotal.
g the 6 live animals, one escaped (feisty!!)- but
several minutes later was picked up by a red-tailed
hawk; 3 were non-scrotal or semi scrotal o?s and
were released; 1 ? had 2 advanced-stage embryos
(CR=25; PVB 576) and the other ? had swollen
uteri only. Therefore 5/6 ff had swollen uteri but
g no value to me. My decision is to move on to
the Owen's Valley tonight. The merriami should be
near-term by now. And the Parognathus ?? . 2pm leave
Kelso dunes for Owens Valley.
