Journal 1.5 mi E Coso Jct., Inyo Co., Calif. 3480 ft 10 March The soil is gravelly throughout and appears to be quite good for burrowing, judging by the number seen. Wildflowers are very sparse as yet — very few in bloom — but the bases of the creosote are dense w/ a green succulent grass-like form. Other than this plant and a few assorted unknown forbs also at the bases of the creosote, there's little herbaceous growth about. At this locality (above), the captures today were as follows: D. merriami ♂ 8 (released) ♀ 8 (all pregnant) microps ♀ 1 (" ) Perognathus longimembris ♂ #6 (released) ♀ 0 Onychomys torridus ♂ 1 ( " ) Amnispermophalus leucurus 1 " Spermophilus mohavensis 1 " mi N.
