Bryski 1982 Journal 1.5 mi E Coso Jct, Inyo Co., Calif. 3480 ft. 8 March Man was I tired! Checked the trap lines this a.m. and still feeling exhausted, went back to bed. The catch wasn't particularly plentiful: 8 D. merriami, (5 catalogued, 3 released - total), 2 P. longimembris, 1 P. maniculatus (released). 3 merriami's were ♀ and all carried embryos. Still quite small - hardly large enough for crown-rump length measurement. The embryos were separated from their mothers and fixed in 10% formalin. The reproductive parts of the total likewise were separated and fixed in formalin. Several merriami's were preserved by vascular perfusion. The technique involves anesthetizing with Nembutal, purifying the system of blood w/ 0.9% saline injected into the heart followed by a formalin injection into the heart. After processing the animals (the vascular perfusion took ~25 min / specimen), another 90 traps were set bringing the total to 150. It's quite cold out tonight - round high 40°. Clear sky. Full moon which rose at dusk. Coyotes were heard tonight as were cattle - still on their range. 9 March Ran up to check the trap lines. Temperature last night dropped pretty low - high 30°/low 40°. 12pm All lines have been checked; some have been picked up, mainly those that two nights have been just in on. I wouldn't expect many more FF from those lines. I only catalogued 9 specimens, 8 D. merriami and
