P. Brylski 1981 Journal Vicinity Coso Junction Inyo Co., Calif. 4 Sept (mid) xi best from Hwy 395 East to the hills. Habitat here is a triplex scrub (including assorted shrubby - thorny plants I know not) comprising atriplex converticlia, several sagos, Eriogonum inflatum, etc. The soil is Sandy to gravelly and desert mounds are in evidence throughout. P. longimambis, D. oeritami and no doubt several Perognus are here also. Ammospermophilus leucurus seen today here. I trapped this locality in July-August 1979 and found trogane ground squirrels also. 3 traps lines, 2 20, 15 & 15 trays were set in this habitat Coso Junction N ↑ Hwy 395 transmission line earthed Trops were set at 12-14 m. baited w/ seed-oat mix. By 930 pm the wind is blowing heavily — around 30 mph from the west. This may well interfere w/ trap success. Another line of 18 traps was set 4-mi E. of Coso Junction in the rocky scrub habitat inhabited by P. formosus 10 pm checked a number 2 traps along transect 3 but nothing yet. Too early apparently.
