4 Sept (mid) xi best from Hwy 395 East to the hills.
Habitat here is a triplex scrub (including assorted
shrubby - thorny plants I know not) comprising
atriplex converticlia, several sagos, Eriogonum
inflatum, etc. The soil is Sandy to gravelly and
desert mounds are in evidence throughout.
P. longimambis, D. oeritami and no doubt
several Perognus are here also. Ammospermophilus
leucurus seen today here. I trapped this
locality in July-August 1979 and found

Trops were set at 12-14 m. baited w/ seed-oat
mix. By 930 pm the wind is blowing
heavily — around 30 mph from the west. This may
well interfere w/ trap success. Another line
of 18 traps was set 4-mi E. of Coso Junction
in the rocky scrub habitat inhabited by P. formosus
10 pm checked a number 2 traps along transect
3 but nothing yet. Too early apparently. Set up
camp at locality 4-mi E Coso Junction.
