Journal 10 mi. W. Benton Hot Springs along Hwy 120 Mono Co., Calif. 4 Sept. 7am checked my line - several Dips ordii, several D. panamintinus, several (3) M. megacephalus 15 more P. maniculatus - there's an aberrant looking maniculatus or two in these - bigger cars, quite different pelage. I've saved these to prepare study skins of. Also caught 5 or so Extenias minimus (See Catalogue for it's - only the maniculatus catch was greater than indicated by the catalogue. All heteromyids (same one panamintinus found in a trap last night) are alive still. After I set up camp tonight I may sacrifice some of these. 12 noon leave for next locality. Weather, by the way, is round 85° F; wind 10-20 mph from East. Quite pleasant. Last night the air temperature went down to round 45° F. 9pm Depart for points south Vicinity Coso Junction (Hwy 395 + ) Inyo Co., Calif 4 Sept. 7pm having arrived here so late means I'll need to work pretty quickly. A little car trouble and several necessary additional stops (e.g., a swim in the Owens River at Hwy 6) caused my lateness. 9pm Traplines of Shermans were set in 3 localities at this vicinity.
