P. Bylski 1981 Journal Little Panocha Creek, 4 mi N Mercey Hot Springs, along Fresno County Rd. J1 [illegible] Co., Calif. Elev. 550' 28 July. and 10 Dipodomys ; 1 dead, the rest alive. At the locality of Little Panocha Creek south of here (1 mi N Mercey Hot Springs) we caught 2 P. maniculatus > 1 Dipo. Most everything, except 9 live Dipo's, are in formalin. Parkfield Rd. 13.5 mi N. Parkfield (along un #20 County Rd), Fresno [illegible] Co., Calif Elev. 2000' 28 July 5 pm Arrived at suitable camping / trapping site 1-mi S (m s.) of Jacolitos (?) Ranch along earth rd. A turn off loops into the hills and road-side Junipers provide good shade. Daytime temperatures are round 100-105° F. Yesterday, driving up from Coalinga where temperatures seemed round 110°, several Dipo's & my two Perognathus californicus perished. Habitats around this site are open grassland (100% cover 4-8" tall annual grasses), oak woodland & juniper, chanixse - eriogonum scrub, & rocky - talus slopes. 9pm 55 live traps + 45 snay traps, 6 gopher live traps were set. 20 Sherman set in open grassland, 35 mi Artemesia - Eriogonum hillsides (10-15° slope, N) 45 snay traps in grassland & rocky scrub, 2 habitats. Gopher sign is evident over much of the Oak woodland -grassland & scrub hillsides. Six live traps were set in those areas. Beechy ground squirrels are common in the rocky slopes & gravelly flatlands, several Sylvilagus
