P. Brylski 1487 Journal "Yucca Valley" 7 1/2 mi. E. Coso Junction, (Hwy 14) Inyo Co., California 24 may 1130 am Animals were assessed for reproductive condition, sex, & species. Ed H. and I debated over whether the large Dipodomys is microps or panamintinus. I think microps, Ed thinks panamintinus. 57 live animals were retained, the rest released. ?? x of each heterozygic species were saved. Peromyscus were all released (?? were Neotoma). Several D. microps ?? were sacrificed immediately (#s 181-182) to determine reproductive condition. Neither were pregnant, both being parous however. They did not appear to have given birth this year, judging from the width of the uterus being fairly narrow. ??? the mammae distended, suggesting young were not in the burrow. 1230 depart Yucca Valley for Darwin Falls 7 mi. S. Hwy 190 on Darwin Rd., Inyo County California 25 may 930 am Arrival here last night yesterday afternoon & promptly hiked to the falls for a swim. Ed and I returned to camp round 5:30 pm to set trap lines We're camped above Darwin Falls about 2 km.
