~5 pm NE Glamis, along Hwy 78,
Imperial Co., Calif.
9am Just returned from checking the line &
pulling up the traps. The catch was about
the same as last night. Of 40 traps (16
large Shermans, 5 small, 25 snap traps), caught
8 Dipodomys merriami, 1 Peromyscus eremicus,
4 Perognathus sp.. Most of the traps were
not sprung. Ants are a problem here --
nearly half the line traps had ants and ~6 or 7
snap traps had their peanut butter removed by
ants. Still, >25% success isn't too bad.
11am After stuffing 3 merriami's, I'm
ready to pack up. This isn't baileyi country
so I'm heading north & west to around
Banner. Hall & Kelson note that a locality
for baileyi hveyi (Grinell) is Banner.

up several thousand feet up from the San Felipe
Creek. Plant cover is 50-75%. Yuccas, barrel acti
