3 P. Brylski 1981 Journal. ~5 km NE glanis along hwy 78, Imperial Co., California 23 march grow several tree species - an acacia-like tree and more commonly, a willow-form tree. It certainly isn't a willow (though the other is acacia stelleri). Ocatillo occurs here although sparsely - and on the flat rocky pavement [illegible] pavement. There are several gravel-hills but this area is mainly flat or rolling gravelly- sandy terrain, cut frequently by washes. Plant cover approaches 30% in few areas, but on the whole is ~ 10-15%. Rodent burrows abound. I set all traps this afternoon - 15 line traps (10 large, 5 small) and 30 snap traps (museum specials). Because my poor luck last night (no captures), I baited the line traps w/ peanut-butter & seed-oats mix. And provided cotton (which I did last night also). The traps were spread out over an area roughly 1/2 hectares in 4 lines. 24 march 5 pm Checked the line - had fairly poor success again. ~10 animals which were stuffed this morning and afternoon (See catalogue). Also capt some line traps open in day to catch some antelope ground squirrels - of which 3 were caught & prepared. Saw a few Lepus americanus but
