P. Brylski 1987 Journal ~2 km west highway 86 (Salton City) on County road 522, Imperial Co., California 22 March Snap traps were spring. None of the line traps were spring. I guess there was little interest on the rodents' part in my traps. The Museum specials were baited up peanut butter - oats - tearl seed mixture; the line traps all had a ball of cotton & half-handful of seed-oat mixture. It's also likely the fox robbed some of the snap traps. Better luck tonight, I hope. 23 March ~5 km NE Glamis along Hwy 78, Imperial Co., Calif 2 pm drove here this afternoon / morning from Brawley. I searched for several hours for suitable habitat to catch heteromyids. Just west of Glamis is several miles of dunes covered w/ sparse vegetation. Access is very limited & that which exists is fully utilized by ORV recreation- ists. I drove past this site, NE to County road S34 & drove south ~8 miles. That area is 1000'ft or so higher in elevation than there; the vegetation there is extremely sparse - very rocky, rolling terrain. Here the vegetation is moderately sparse "scrub" (for lack of better term, not being familiar w/ the flora). Dozens of washes cut across the terrain - small washes (several meters across). Along the washes
