Boulevard, ST 1941 21 May 28 Russian Gulch State Park, 40 ft., Mendocino Co., Calif. Of three gopher traps set in meadow near ranger cabin one contained a 2 Thomomys bottae. Mole trap set in same meadow of short grass remained un sprung. Species observed: Pigeon Guillenot Western Meadowlark Baird Corromant White-crowned Sparrow Violet Green Swallow May 29 Traps set along road east of ranger's cabin cast by Fran and myself yielded nothing but one small Sorex sp. and two Peromyscus maniculatus. 19 Museum Species baited with Walnut and set about 20 feet apart in tall grass of meadow. The Sorex was in too poor condition for preparation; the Peromyscus were discarded as our chest contains this variety in far too great numbers already. I walked out to the meadow on the coast with Fran to look in her gopher traps - empty. Species seen: White-crowned Sparrow 4+ Allen Hummingbird 2 Violet Green Swallow 10+ Band Tailed Pigeon 1 Russet-backed Thrush 1 Brush Rabbit 1 I spent a very pleasant specimen-less morning.
