Both fauna & flora are sparse.
Species seen during day:
Sylvilagus bachmani
Sciurus douglasii
Two unidentified chipmunks seen running along tops of large logs amid thick growth of rhododendron,
Vaccinium, bracken, etc. on flat atop hill along North Trail.
Thamnophis ordinoides
Melospiza melodia, Hylocichla ustulata, Certhia familiaris, Nuttallornis borealis, Hirundo erythrogastra, Ceryle alcyon, Psaltriparus minimus, Cathartes aura, Wilsonia pusilla,
Selasphorus aenei, Centhestes rufescens.

Mrs. Grinnell, Viola, and I left camp about 7:30 for an all-day hike up thru the pine barrens.
Along North Trail on the way up we set traps in likely spots for Aplodontia and chipmunks. Set two rat traps in trails thru underbrush baited with nut and oatmeal for the former. For the latter its rat traps baited with oatmeal & nut also used, but set openly on logs with a little dry oatmeal sprinkled about. Five set this way and one atop a stump where chickaree seen the other day.
We also set 2 #1 steel traps smeared with wazel scent gland along underside of large logs and staked them down. Mrs. Grinnell stopped to
