Brulware, JT 1942 2 Peromyscus maniculatus Apr.7 Muddy Creek, 1 mi. S Chualar Canyon, Monterey Co., Calif. at 1000 ft. elevation in a stand of Artemisia californica with associated growths of Salvia mellifera, Baccharis sp., and short grass. On the rather steep, long slope considerably above the flat (about 1400 ft.), 62 traps yielded 2 males and 1 female of this kind. Salvia mellifera is dominant here with associated growths of Artemisia californica, Baccharis sp., Lotus sp., a few ferns, and low grasses. Apr.8 A line of 127 traps set in Artemisia growth described above yielded 2 females and 1 male of this kind among other kinds of rodents. Apr.9 Same number of traps set in same habitat as of April 8 yielded one male and two females. Apr.10 Johnson Ranch, 800 ft., Chualar Canyon, Monterey Co., Calif. Seven males and 8 females were caught in a line of 120 traps set in a hillside stand of Artemisia californica and grass on the margin of a young grain field.
