March 18
Cool and windy. Prepared
specimens collected yesterday and
the Virginia Rail trapped this a.m.
made a trip to the pools near
camp this morning and again
this evening.
Observations:
Jackrabbit, californicus typus, one
(the first and only rabbit seen here) was
seen at dusk running through the
brush near camp.
Grackle, boat tailed, a pair (the
first 2 sees) were here all day
among the cottonwoods. They
made a few calls but it
migratory activity was not nearly
so advanced as grackles observed
in Chihuahua during the past
three weeks.
