Journal 22 & Bodii Ojosa gura, Chichahua, 5000 ft Mexico. March 13 Took a short trip to the marshes ad ponds north of camp. It was cloudy and warmer last night and today 48 deg at 7am, 72 deg at 3pm. Willows ad cottonwoods begining to show some green leave. Mesquite & Catclaw show no sign of life. Birds recorded: Scaled Quail - flock of 40 one mile north of camp. Diaz Ducks - 9 in one flock two other pairs, when pairs are flushed from small potholes the hen quacks loudly while the male gives low grating note as does the Mallard Drake. Coot - another coot on the same pond or which one was collected. Accipiter, one accipiter (Cooper or Sharpshinned) observed but not collected. Longspurs - one flock of 152 birds.
