Took long walk past ponds near camp and on to the big lake. The big lake (about 2 mi. east of camp & edge of water) is extremely salty. In some places large salt crystals have formed. Also it is very shallow. Birds seen: Green-winged Teal - 15 on pond near camp. Dusky Ducks - 12 on pond near camp. Longspurs, Clark's nuttalled - 100 collected 2. These birds have been present since my first trip to the marsh but I did not record them because I was not certain of identity. The fly in large, compact flocks and are not easily approached. They inhabit the drier grasslands just east of the marshy areas.
