Ojo Sagua, Chihuahua, 5000ft Mxjs
Borell 1963 March 4. Hard wind all of last night and to-day. Had to take the tent down to save it. Much dust in the air.
Warmer last night, no ice, 45° at 7 a.m.
Seven mouse & rat traps in tall (wet area) grass caught 1 Onychomys (saved)
& 1 Sigmodon (not saved). 5 steel traps set for raccoon caught 0.
Went to the pond (½ mi. N.) where I flushed the 30 ducks on Mar 2, no ducks.
Birds seen -
saw most of the birds previously recorded. In addition
Turkey Vulture - 1
Roadrunner - 1
Marsh Wren - 1 (seen previously)
Brown Towhee - 2
Merg Ducks - 1. (Two seen Mar 2)
Harris Hawk - 3 in one Cottonwood
Doves are cooing but no nuptial flights.
5 P.M. Returned to Port (½ mi. N.) saw
one Coot (new) & 1 Greater Yellowlegs
Sisim - 1 came to tree on Camp.
