Borell 1966 ojo layuna 5200 ft. sierra del nido, clintua line ne! Apr 13 cont. mammals cont. cotton-tail. Cotton tails have greatly increased since the spring of 1963. If my memory serves me correctly during March and April of 1963 I saw only 4 cotton-tails, in late April and say May 2 1964 I saw a few more but they were still rare. In Nov. 1964 an lion in the mesquite and catclaw would acacia area I see 3 or 4 cotton-tails. Today in the same area I saw no less than 20 different cotton-tails. Furthermore they were more widely distributed -several were seen in grazing areas with few mesquites that did not appear to be favorable habitat for cotton-tails. Two appeared to be young of the year and one I shot for the gut contained 3 (dead/linch) embryos.
