17 Journal Borell Chil.Mex 1964 Jago La Sajao, Rio Santa Clara @ 4900?' Nov 28 Took a long hike up the Rio Santa Clara, also a trap through the Mesquite ad Cholla near camp. Neb birds seen Pyruluxia - 2 mocking bird -1 Green tailed Towhee-1 White throated Sparrow - feeding alone on the ground near camp- second one seen here this trip. Belted Kingfisher -1. Third time seen likely the same bird. very wild. wouldn't let me get within gun range. Bewich were -1 second time seen Mallards-Diaz Ducks- about 40 jingled from wide places in the river. I now estimate that There are about 100 mallards and Diaz ducks in the vicinity. These two species are often together but usually not with other kinds of ducks. In most cases Diaz ducks predominato i the flocks. In one case I counted 12 i one flock ad 20 i another which all
