Journal Ojo Saguna, Chihuahua, Mex Nov 14 Spend most of the day hunting for the Gambel quail that we saw yesterday but no luck. Learned from Senor Gutierrez that there has been little rain for the past year. Most of the shallow water areas at the ojos that provided so many birds during the past two springs are dry or almost so. Cattle are in poor condition some have died. The weather is warm and windy. Willows and cattarwoods are yellow but still have most of their leaves. Mesquits have most of their leaves - still green. Leaves are gone from the cateclas. Grass and forbs are mostly dry. Checked all of the nearby ojos that have water. Saw no ducks and noshore birds except wilson snipe and baldder.
