Borell 1964 Semmary Apr 21 - May 20 Journal, Continued Ojo de Luna, Chihuahua, Mex Cottonrats. Last year I saw cottonrats on almost every trip through favorable sigmodon habitat. Sign was everywhere including grassy areas among mesquite. This year I saw only one sigmodor and fresh sign was absent most places examined. Kangaroo rats sign appeared about as last year. Lepus californicus, saw more this year than last year - about 3 times as many. A ♀ killed on May 2 contained one embryo. One young 1/3 grown, was killed on May 19. Three others killed for the gutener; jamb were in good shape, 2♂, 1 nonpregnant ♀ Lepus guillardi - none seen in the vicinity of camp. I did not go to the playa area where I saw one ad signs of others last year.
