Cottonrats. Last year I saw
cottonrats on almost every trip through favorable sigmodon habitat.
Sign was everywhere including grassy areas among mesquite. This year
I saw only one sigmodor and
fresh sign was absent most places examined.
Kangaroo rats sign appeared about
as last year.
Lepus californicus, saw more
this year than last year - about
3 times as many. A ♀ killed on
May 2 contained one embryo. One
young 1/3 grown, was killed on May
19. Three others killed for the gutener;
jamb were in good shape, 2♂, 1 nonpregnant ♀
Lepus guillardi - none seen in
the vicinity of camp. I did not go
to the playa area where I saw
one ad signs of others last year.
