1964 Ojo fajuna, 5200 ft Chihuahua, Mex.
May 11
Cold night, clear calm morning
44 deg F at 7 am.
Went to Chihuahua.
Birds noted before we left at 9:30 am:
Chipping Sparrow - 1
Orchard Oriole - 3 &
Bullock Oriole common, one & gathering
nesting material - saw no territorial
squabbles yestdy or this am.
Western Tanager 4 & at one tree on
the brush pile under which we have
pineapple trimmings. Saw only one &
yellow warbler 2 & singing, one &
White Cr. Sparrows - 20 around feed area
some singing.
Wilson Warbler - 4, number is down.
Townsend Warbler - 1
Barn Swallows 2 & came to our pool
side to gather nesting mud.
Bronzed Cowbird 1 & Saw it at close
range with binoculars. Noted its larger
size & red eye, also saw it inspect
a Bullock Oriole (partially completed) nest.
It departed before I got a shot.
Blackheaded Grosbeak 3 & 1 &
