Borell
1964 (Ojo Sagura), San Lorenzo, 5000 ftel.
Rio Santa Clara Chihuahua Mex.
June May 1st. Continued
river from San Lorenzo. They got this
gun and managed to kill one. It
proved to be mule deer spite buck.
He said it was large enough
to be a real load for four men to
carry to the car. He said it was
excellent eating, also Mr. Siemens
said that last winter (1962-63) the
natives of the village killed a
black bear in the river bottom near
San Lorenzo.
Mr. Siemens told us that this
river at San Lorenzo flows throughout
the year. He said that permanent flow
comes from springs near Santa Clara,
40 miles above San Lorenzo. Also he
said that following thunder storms in
caste summer the Santa Clara flows from
bank to bank.
Apparently the climate is milder along
the Santa Clara than here at least the
mesquites appeared to be more
nearly in full leaf - but we
saw no blossoms.
