Borell
1964
Ojo Saguna 5200 ft. Chilendana, Chile.
April 21
Birds seen
Wilson snipe 2
Killdeer 2
Swainson Hawk - 2 apparently
a pair, both were carrying sticks
of little finger size and 12-14
inches long, one held the stick in
its beak and the other held it in
its two feet. They circled about
a clump of three large cottonwood
but departed (still carrying their sticks)
at my approach. This would seem
to be a very late date for
courtship or nest building by hawks.
