Journal Borell 1964 Ojo Saguna 5200 ft. Chilendana, Chile. April 21 Birds seen Wilson snipe 2 Killdeer 2 Swainson Hawk - 2 apparently a pair, both were carrying sticks of little finger size and 12-14 inches long, one held the stick in its beak and the other held it in its two feet. They circled about a clump of three large cottonwood but departed (still carrying their sticks) at my approach. This would seem to be a very late date for courtship or nest building by hawks. Sparrow Hawk - 2 Turkey Vulture - 3 Dead Duck - Only 2 apparently a pair Cinnamon teal - 2 (pair) Green-winged teal - 12 Shoveler one? Harris Hawk - 1 Barn Owl - 1 Nighthawk 7 - 10 Cuckoo - one heard Mourning dove - 50 saw or heard no evidence of mating
