Bird notes
Hermits Thrush - 1 collected (females)
Cowbird - 4? 1 collected. Were common in
Chihuahua on Apr 2. These are the first
seen here.
No other changes in bird population
over yesterday.
Spring is well advanced but
summer drought is not yet here
Mesquites and Catclaws are now in
flower, and Mesquite is fairly well
in leaf and some plants have
new shoot 6 to 8 inches long.
Catclaw is about 1/2 in leaf. Saccio
grass in the moist sites now has
considerable green. The country
is dry - there have been only
a few drops of rain since we
came on Feb. 27.
It is with regret that
we leave our camping spot.
