April 18
Still cool, 48° at 7 a.m., 80° at noon &
78° at 4 p.m. Very heavy wind all afternoon.
Trps around the ponds, willows,
cottonwoods all that I could see.
Major change in bird population
- no wilson snipe and no
anderson warblers seen.
Pilotated yellowthroats were seen.
White-winged dove - collected first one
seen here.
Scaled quail. Two coveys. Birds appear
to be still in coveys but the coveys
are looser, a few seem to be
in pairs associated with this
coveys. No male calling.
A second nest of Vermillion Flycatcher
(in the making) observed in a large
aloft 20 feet from the ground.
Mourning Dove - some cooing
early in the morning & a few
migratory flights seen.
