Journal 53 1963 E/Borell Ojo Laguna, Chihuahua 5000) ftl. Mexid. April 16 continued. According to an altimeter the river at that point is about the same elevation as at Ojo Laguna (5000 ft.) However the vegetation is more advanced. Mesquite is in full bloom - none of the mesquite is in bloom around Ojo Laguna. Birds seen: Deer ducks - two along this river Greater yellowlegs - 1 along this river. Wilson's and Audubon's warblers seen in cottonwoods & willows. Curve-billed thrashers - much more common than around Ojo Laguna. 2 linneto? Cactus wrens - More common than at Ojo Laguna. Brewer Sparrows, green-tailed towhees, white cr. Sparrow - about the same numbers as at Ojo Laguna. Scaled quail - 1 flock of 5. One (3?) dashing about with spread wings. White-winged dove - two (not together) Humming bird(?) - 1 - first seen Mourning doves - abundant in pairs or small groups.
