Beginning to wonder if he'll ever show up again. 12:30 "" 17:00 "" January 11, 1989 morning 13:10 Weather intermittent cloudy. Cool. Scattered drizzle but sunny now, stiff breeze. On Telegraph Ave. near Bancroft. Saw dark form with light went disappear behind rooftops, headed south across Telegraph Ave. at building-height level. Carl Cicero saw it too - thought accipiter? Large flock of Brewer's Blackbirds (+200) and all pigeons in area scared up & whirling about above the buildings; nearly ringing. 13:20 - Checking Campanile. Over north side, 300' higher, the tuxedo Peregrine appeared, nearly "waiting-on" over me in the stiff NW breeze. Sunny sky now. The cross-low form clear as day, dark tuxedo Peregrine! He went into two light stoops, riding the wind down, yet staying in one place, he cut his altitude from a point down nearly 300' higher than the Campanile to the level of the Campanile. I was nearly shouting for joy at his appearance. At the close of each stop he flared, caught himself, then began the next stop. He seemed to just eat up altitude in slow motion.
