November 23, 1988
11:30 No peregrine on Campanile.
16:45 While walking up to the top (Campanile) [from west]
at the level of Wheeler Hall I “heard” of pigeon
whizz past, it was going in a straight line,
coming from behind me at a steep angle, and
literally dived into some trees just west of
Wheeler. I could hear the wind in its wings. “How
old,” I thought. Within a minute I had walked
around the south end of the Campanile, no peregrine when
I looked up at the ledges of its south face. Then I
passed under some trees to look at E face, and low
and behold, the peregrine was sitting on ledge #3 of
the S face! So, he must have just flown up there
inbetween the time I had looked at the S face
and passed under the trees. This all transpired
within about 2 minutes, so I suspect the
falcon had been chasing the pigeon that zipped
past my head. But I never saw the f peregrine
flying, he must be circled back behind some
buildings.
22:00. Peregrine still on S-ledge #3 of Campanile.
November 24, 1988
08:00. Peregrine on ledge #2, west face. Sunny
morning. I parked the car just at the NE corner
of Wheeler Hall. Tossed up a pigeon whose eyes had
been gently covered with cotton. The pigeon rose up
