Field Notes Doug Bell July 4-5 In Seattle. Ken Larasco was home on morning of 4th. Picked up Maren at airport on afternoon of 4th. We went with Ken to show of wooden boats. On the 5th Maren and I went to Pike's Place Market, also the Seattle Aquarium. Took care of renting a roof rack for the car, etc. Seemed to me that fewer gulls were visible in and around Seattle than in previous years. July 6 Left Seattle around 11:30. Headed for Anacortes Ferry to Friday Harbor. Arrived Anacortes 13:10. Ferry doesn't leave until 15:10. On ferry ride saw fair nos. of Rhinos, Aucolets. No Balds (Eagles) seen this time. Arrived Friday Harbor 17:06. Force Smith still in office. Checked us in. Dinner at the Lob. (Maren and Susie from Berkeley). We drove out to Lyme Point for Sunset. Saw Balds' Purpises (~10). The Bald Eagle on same tree as last year - beautiful, clean adult. July 7, 1988 After getting checked out on the boats, Maren and I read in the aluminum skiff w/ 15 hp motor north out of Friday Harbor to Gull Rock, near Flotop Island.
