this has a carpet of Common Murres on top, and only
3 gull nests - two of which are W6XW6. On the way
south down Highway 109, about 5 mi S of Modibo, saw
an imm. Bald Eagle sitting on a tall snag right next
to the road. This bird looked quite bedraggled, had a
mottled white/brown breast. Back of head was wet -
almost looked like a vulture's head! Bill black, cere
clark.

Stayed in the Dorm-motel ($10.50/night). Got ahold of
Ken Worthington around 12:30. Agreed to go out to
Whitcomb Island in Grays Harbor at 14:00. Get
picked up 19:30.
14:30 on Whitcomb Island. It's really changed since last
year. There used to be two dune areas of low grass,
sort of kidney-loan shaped. There is now a substantial
high sandy area to the west & inbetween both dune
areas. A large Caspian Tern colony is now in the
new area.
South east gull colony:
GW6XGW6 : 2
W6XWC pairs: 4+2+3
HxH pairs: 1+1+1
GW6x8H : 1

As I walked through the SE colony counting nests, I
estimate a total of 240 gulls were above me.
Also large number of Ring-billed Gulls in area between
major gull & tern colonies. Judging from behavior,
some may be breeding.
