15:30 - at Yaquina Head.
1) For thin loaf-like rock just offshore from SE core of
Yaquina Head 15 gull nests visible, all WG x WG except one
which has hybrid & (light 10" tips, but still darker than
mantle, dark irides, possibly flesh eyeing)
and WG & that tends toward hybrid status - has faded
trailing edges of 10's, especially 7,6,5. Otherwise normal
WG. The hybrid nest is on top of the rock at level area -
gassy. Hybrid pair copulated, have week old chicks. About 4/2 nests
have chicks.
2) on SE slope closest to above rock - 4 gull nests; all WG x WG
One pair of which has light irides. A Hyb. & landed in between
2 gull nests - her 10's are lighter than WG due to fading &
wear + less pigment. Other than that, she has light yellow
eyeing + light greenish irides.
