Field Notes. Doug Bell 29 May 1988 the house first. Rode down to the house, picked up Pam. All four of us rode down to the lower parcels north of Panther Point. At the bottom the dogs picked up the scent of pigs. Lots of howling. Also lots of fresh pig damage on the slopes. We rode fast to try to keep up with the dogs, but the going was tough. We lost the dogs. Luther came over from where he was searching, and we listened real hard - no sound of the dogs. So we thought we could try the areas where the hounds first wanted to go (north). At that point a couple hours had passed, so Pam and I decided to head back to the house. Almost forgot - saw a Golden Eagle at Panther Point. And Todd found 6 Mountain-Lion deer-kills at an [illegible] ambush spot there. As it turns out - later in the day Todd & Luther doubled-back to Panther Point and picked up the dog howling. Todd had to go in on foot up the steep taller slopes to get to the dogs. Fuchsler had chased about 14 pigs up onto a rocky outcrop. A neighbor, Larry, had heard the dogs and raced up to the pigs, waiting for the "hunters" to arrive. Todd & Larry took aim & fired away. In the ensuing pandemonium only 2 pigs were killed. The pigs charged the dogs and hunters immediately. Todd had to fire at his pig several times before dropping it. They estimate wounding a couple pigs, too. At the meantime, Maran and I had left to drive home. Again, I did not see any Peregrines at Goat Rock. However, down at Redway
