We were up by 07:00. Viewed Sugarloaf rock
from our camp - could see Tufted Puffins, Cormorant
and Pigeon Guillemots circling around. Counted
about 10 puffins. No sign of Peregrines.
I finished preparing the gulls by noon. We
drove back to the ranch house, said

1/4 mile offshore, lots of murres (+300),
Brandt's Cormorants (+60) and a few gulls (13)
nesting. Some Brown Pelicans. Four Black

good view of the rock which was about 1/4 mile

for 1 1/2 hours. Lots of Pigeon Guillemotts,
Cormorants (Pelagic, Brandt's, Double Crested) - the
Pelagics were scattered about in individual nests,
the Brandt's are on a small colony area on
a NE slope, about 75 way down from rock
crest. The Double-crested are nesting on the
very top - probably 20 nests. Lots of Sea Lions on
Steller

where Bear River flows out. The rock is
